Niantic incorrectly distributed an attack that was far too strong for a Pokémon in Pokémon GO. You can find out exactly what it’s all about here.
What attack? As part of the Community Day in December 2023, Pokémon were able to learn exclusive attacks that they would otherwise not learn on a regular basis. Here Kosturso was able to learn the charging attack Discharge Strike. However, due to a mistake, this attack was sometimes learned not as a charging attack, but as an instant attack.
Niantic then blocked the Pokémon from the battle leagues in order to avoid greater damage in the leagues. However, Kosturso still retained the flawed attack and was still able to use it in other areas such as battles against Rockets, raids, and against defending Gym Pokémon.
Niantic has now reacted and adapted the attack for the affected Kosturso. As they write on X (formerly Twitter), the charging attacks that were incorrectly set as instant attacks have now been removed. Instead, the instant attack Dunkelkaue was added for this purpose.
We are embedding the post on X here for you:
Affected trainers will be compensated by Niantic
What compensation does Niantic provide? Trainers who own such a Kosturso will now be compensated by Niantic. An item bundle will be available in the Pokémon GO shop, which can be redeemed until February 28, 2025.
As a trainer reports on Reddit, who himself owned two Kosturso with the faulty attack, the compensation consists of two items. These are each a top instant TM and a top charging TM.

What do you say to that? Did you own a Kosturso with the incorrect attack yourself? Do you think the compensation is appropriate? Feel free to write it to us in the comments.
