Theme nights in the NHL, where the league and the clubs show their support for various topics, have received new directives ahead of the season.
Currently, players are not allowed to wear used Pride-colored warm-up jerseys — a decision the NHL announced last summer.
The latest information for the clubs is about tape.
Players are no longer allowed to express their support for the pride movement by taping their clubs with rainbow colored tape.
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly:
“We also have to respect some individual choices, and it’s part of being diverse and welcoming to understand those differences,” he said during the all-star weekend in February.
Earlier in the year, a group of players had felt “uncomfortable” during “Pride Night” and refused to participate in the warm-up.
