Finn Olli Jokinen has played 17 NHL seasons and was, among other things, team captain for Florida for four seasons. Next season, the 45-year-old will coach the SHL club Timrå.
“My philosophy is that training is tougher than the match, and with that I want to be able to offer the supporters here in Timrå an entertaining game of hockey,” says Olli Jokinen in a press release from the club.
Center Jokinen has over 1,200 games and 750 regular season points on his track record for as many as ten NHL clubs. He spent the longest – seven seasons – in Florida.

During the 2004–2005 lockout season, Jokinen played 23 games for Södertälje in the SHL (then under the name elite series). He has also won an Olympic silver (2006) and a World Cup silver (1998) with Finland.
After the 2014–2015 season, Jokinen ended his playing career and after a few years as a junior coach in the USA, he coached Jukurit in the Finnish top league for three seasons (2021–2024). The contract with Timrå extends over two seasons.
Already in December it was clear that the head coach Ante Karlsson would not get an extended contract with Timrå after the season. Basic series eight Timrå went out against Rögle in the round of 16 of the SM play-offs.
