The Tkachuki’s famous puck family has become an NHL spring hit. Calgary’s Matthew Tkachuk delights in the trough and his brother Brady Tkachuk in the auditorium.
It all started with the seventh match in the playoffs between Calgary and Dallas. Cameras picked up the 22-year-old captain of the Ottawa Senators from the Flames end spectator Brady Tkachukin with their families. Tkachuk empathized and celebrated his big brother spectacularly Matthew Tkachukin represented Calgary’s goals and victory.
After the match, Tkachuk, among other things, lifted on his shoulders a little boy who was wearing his brother’s fan shirt.
The saga got more rounds in the opening round of Calgary’s second-round playoff game against Edmonton. The winger, who occasionally held three bottles of beer at the same time, posed for the cameras, handed out autographs, celebrated spectacularly, and shouted at the audience. The evening was crowned by a hat trick struck by a big brother.
After a match that ended in Calgary’s 9-6 victory, the titles revolve around the Tkachuk family.
– I think the fans have liked the energy I have brought here, Brady Tkachuk laughed in a TV interview.
Brady Tkachuk later told the Canadian For Sportsnet (switch to another service) his parents talked him into the match. However, the captain of the Calgary jersey, Ottawa, refused to wear it. The father of the brothers is Keith Tkachukone of the best American players in NHL history.
– I first said I can’t do it, I play on another team, but they talked me around. I did not expect such a reaction. I refused to wear Calgary clothes because I want to represent the Senators, Tkachuk said.
The waves hit high
It was clear from the start that the youngest Tkachuk would find himself in the big headlines. Especially when the legendary battle of Alberta between two Canadian clubs is at hand. While there’s mostly a good-natured story in the public about a puck-crazy family, some have also questioned whether the captain of another team can play in a competitor’s fan stand.
“Everyone can have their say, but ultimately I’m just a normal dude supporting my brother and celebrating his goals,” Tkachuk replied.
Tkachuk’s Finnish teammate, Ilves-background, is on the same lines Lassi Thomson.
– I don’t think anyone in Ottawa has regretted this. If so, things are bad. It’s summer now and the guys need to be able to go and enjoy it, Thomson says.
Thomson has identified as his teammate the sparkling happy type seen on television.
– All this fits well with the picture I have of him. Brady is a funny guy who just lets go. It doesn’t matter at all whether there will be headlines from somewhere. He’s a completely insane guy, just the top guy, Thomson laughs.
“Family lives for hockey”
Keith, the father of 1,200 NHL matches, was also spectacularly featured in the opening game of the Edmonton series. After the Matthew boy hit his third hit, the family, including Brady, demanded the father throw his cap on the ice, as is customary after hat tricks. However, the head of the family was not ready to give up his hat.
– I’m not wearing my hat. Calgary hadn’t lost a game after I used it. I don’t listen to anyone but my wife, Father Tkachuk smiled.
Criticism of Brady did not interest the father.
– We don’t care what others think. We are a family that loves and supports each other. I like that he supports his brother, his best friend.
This is how the Tkachuki family has always had an operation, if you ask for a view Teemu from Seläntewho once played with Keith Tkachuk for several years in Winnipeg.
– Tkachukit is a family that knows its own worth. They do things they believe to be right. They don’t care what others say, Selänne comments.
Your back says the family lives off hockey.
– That family has owned everything for hockey. When Brady played in a U.S. development program for under-17s, they bought a house in Plymouth and Dad and Mom lived there alternately. When it comes to hockey, this family is “all in”. Can’t just lift my hat. People who put everything in the game need to get value for their goals. I’m happy for them.
The all-time Finnish paint cannon is mostly smiled by the conversation surrounding whether a player representing Ottawa can encourage his brother playing in the Calgary Flames.
– Every time someone marches, you do whatever. I just think it’s great that people encourage their family members. This family especially lives on hockey, so the dogs bark and my hair runs.
Will the show continue on Friday?
Now the hot question is whether Brady Tkachuk will appear in the Calgary fan show again on Friday as the Fifes ’home game is played on Flames’ home ice. The well-known American beer giant has already managed to sign a cooperation agreement with a player who has enjoyed the products of the brewery.
– Dad will definitely try to talk me into the fifth game, but I’m going to stay strict. I’m excited about getting back home in St. Louis. This has been almost too much fun, the younger of the brothers said.
And no big brother has been overlooked in the series either. In addition to the hat trick he struck, Matthew, known as a skilled, articulate and provocative player, has, among other things, set off a personal bankrupt in Edmonton. Evander Kanelle asking him if this would require money.
Matthew has been pleased with the little brother’s extracts in the auditorium.
– He had fun again, the dude dominates, Matthew Tkachuk chuckled after the first Edmonton match.
Edmonton have won the last two matches and are now leading the series 3-1. The fifth match of the match series will be played in Finnish time early on Friday at 4.30.
