Neymar season over what is his injury

Season over for Neymar. The PSG striker will not play again by the end of the season, the club has just announced. What is the Brazilian suffering from?

Neymar won’t push back a football pitch by the end of the season! Paris Saint-Germain has just announced, this Monday, March 6, 2023, that the Brazilian striker’s season is over. In a statement, the club said he could only be back in training in “three to four months”, making any return by the end of the championship or the Champions League impossible. Paris will therefore have to compose without one of its stars for the upcoming deadlines, starting on Wednesday, in Munich, during the 1/8th final return of the Champions League.

In its press release, PSG indicates that Neymar will undergo a ligament repair operation, “in order to avoid a major risk of recurrence.” It is not in Paris but in Doha, in Qatar, that this intervention will be carried out. The Brazilian international will be taken care of “in the coming days” at the clinic Aspetar from the Qatari capital of Doha, specializing in sports operations and rehabilitation.

What is Neymar’s injury?

Neymar came out injured against Lille on February 19, during the Parisian victory at the end of the suspense (4-3). The Brazilian had suffered a sprained ankle, PSG said at the time. It was during contact with Lille’s Benjamin André that the striker twisted his right ankle in midfield. Although he tried to keep his place, he was forced out in the 51st minute of play. It was the same ankle he injured during the last World Cup.

Yet another injury for Neymar

What are Neymar’s repeated injuries due to? The hygiene of life? The bad luck ? Whatever one says, Neymar has taken another blow to morale. He was injured at the Parc des Princes at the worst of times while PSG are going through a delicate period. Number 10 suffered his fifth injury at PSG this Sunday since 2017. In 2018 he had already had a serious sprain. Then there were 2019, 2021, 2022 and now 2023. He is also regularly absent with his country. In 2014, 2018 and 2022, during the three Football World Cups, Neymar was forced to leave his teammates on the pitch.
