In Iiti, the Kymi Ring motor track will host the World Rallycross competition next June.
On Thursday, at the information held at the Hungarian Embassy in Helsinki, it was announced that the World Rallycross Championships will have a permanent home in Finland. The contract is for 3+2 years.
Kymi will also come to the Ring to compete Niclas Grönholmwho competes in the CE Dealer team. The team also plays a key role in the construction of the Kymi Ring rallycross track.
– I once got to drive in a home race a few years ago, and yes, it is a special thing. Great job! It’s good for Finnish enthusiasts and for Finnish motorsport in general that an international event is finally organized at Kymi Ring, Grönholm thanks.
CEO of Kymi Ring Kornél Öry says he is happy about the long-term contract.
– It creates the basis for our plans for the next few years, he said at the press conference.
Most of the still needed construction work will be done next May, when the snow has melted. Until then, Kymi Ring will focus on detailed planning, says Öry.
Considerable economic effects
13.-16. the games organized in June are considered to be of considerable benefit to the economy of the surrounding area. The direct economic effects are estimated to be more than three million euros. The number of viewers is expected to reach up to 30,000.

The World Rallycross competition was last organized in Finland in 2020 in Kouvola.
A group of investors in the background of the track
Kymi Ring came under Finland Motorsport Circuit Holding oy in February for around 3.75 million euros. The company is backed by a group of investors led by Hungarian TRP Hungary.
The investor group included a private investor Alex Rabbowner of Raorg TransLog Balázs Kerék and from near Kouvola, leading several business incubator projects in Germany Mika Wilska. Wilska was initially part of the company’s board as the only Finnish member, but has since left.
The CEO of Finland Motorsport Circuit Holding is Kornél Öry and the chairman of the board Tamas Őry. The company is changing its name to Kymiring Holding oy.
