The Finnish driver who last year won the WRC3 class championship of the World Rally Car Series Lauri Joona announced an interesting collaboration on Thursday. Joona, 26, said on Instagram that his driving partner next year in the WRC2 class is Janni Hussi.

Previously known as a media personality and fitness athlete, Hussi, 32, has worked as a map reader since last year in a total of eleven rallies, as a driver Sami Pajari, Matias Henkola, Heikki Kovalainen and Jonah.

In July, Hussi and Joona drove two EC series races, in Sweden and Italy. In the upcoming season, the duo plans to drive a full seven-race series in WRC2.

– Auntie! It’s really crazy that we will start with this kind of composition next year in the World Rally Championship in the WRC2 class! twosome beamed on Instagram.

The collaboration between Joona and Huss had started in Croatia in sheet music work. The first joint competition was the Swedish EC rally.

– Things went so harmoniously that the second EC competition (Italy) was also blessed for the same summer. That EC competition also pleased its creators to such an extent that a deeper reflection on the continuation started. So the end result is here and this!

– We are both very excited about the future and ready to roll up our sleeves. When mr. Sastamala and mrs. In Kouvola, the wise (hko) put their heads together, and you will get what you want, Hussi and Joona were carving.

“Janni has quickly internalized the duties of the second driver”

In addition to the EC, Hussi has also karted in the SC rallies. In the SM series that ended at the weekend, he finished sixth together with Kovalainen in the SM1 class.

– Janni has really quickly internalized the duties of the second driver. Team spirit in the car is good, and it is very important in a rally. We are united by a positive attitude and enthusiasm for rallying, Joona praises on the World Championship website.

– It all started as a joke in my former job as a morning radio host. Six months later I quit my job for rallying and here we are. Lauri is easy to work with, and we have gotten to know each other well. It’s especially rewarding to ride with a skilled driver, one who knows what he’s doing and has achieved success. This also develops my own skills, Hussi stated on the WC series website.
