Newborn baby found in toilet of Mauritius Airlines plane

Airport staff in Mauritius found a newborn baby boy in the trash can of the toilet of a Mauritius Airlines plane.

A 20-year-old woman, suspected of giving birth during the flight and leaving the baby in the trash, was reportedly detained.

Mauritius Airlines flight from Madagascar landed at the international Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam airport in Mauritius on 1 January.

Airport officials found the baby doing routine customs checks on the plane.

The baby was immediately transferred to the hospital for first aid.

Although the woman, who was thought to be the mother of the child, did not accept that the baby belonged to her at first, it was understood that she had just given birth in the medical control.

The woman is being held in the hospital under police supervision.

Both the baby and the mother were reported to be in good health.

It was noted that the woman, who is a Madagascar citizen and came to Mauritius with a two-year work permit, will testify after her care at the hospital is completed and will be brought to court for abandoning the newborn baby.
