New Yakuza Game Appears in Trademark Registration

Yakuza Series Coming as a TV Series

Sega’s new Yakuza game has been spotted in a trademark application under the name Yakuza Wars. RGG Studio will reveal the details at Tokyo Game Show 2024.

A new game in Sega’s beloved Yakuza series has surfaced in a recent trademark filing, which has fans of the series excited.

Yakuza Wars Trademark Application

RGG Studio, the developer of the Like a Dragon series, has been teasing the announcement of its next game for the past few months. This game will again be part of the Like a Dragon series. However, RGG Studio officials have stated that fans will be “surprised” about what the game is. It looks like we may learn the name of the game before that upcoming announcement. Sega has filed a new trademark in Japan for a project titled “Yakuza Wars.” The exact nature of this game is not specified in the trademark description, but it is clear that this is likely the next entry in the Like a Dragon series.

Interestingly, the trademark application does not include the name “Like a Dragon”, which is the name RGG Studio gave to the final installments of the series. The series was previously called “Yakuza” in the western market. However, RGG Studio dropped this name following Yakuza’s release in favor of “Like a Dragon”, as it was always called in Japan.

Details about Yakuza Wars are still under wraps, but we won’t have to wait too long to learn more. RGG Studio previously announced that it will be revealing its next project at Tokyo Game Show 2024. That event will run from September 26 to September 29 and will feature updates on a number of games from Japanese developers and publishers. Additionally, the series’ live-action TV adaptation, titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza, will be released on Prime Video on October 24.
