The raw material iron ore is primarily used in the lower levels of crafting in New World. We at MeinMMO reveal where you can find the iron ore from.
What do you need iron ore for? Iron ore can be recycled into iron bars in a smelter. You need the iron bars for the first levels of armor and weapons beyond wood. This is particularly relevant for levels 5 to around 20.

Where is iron ore found? You can get iron ore from iron ore veins. You can generally find them in the “Highland” area type and they come in different sizes, so you can get between 15 and 50 iron ore from them.
You can find a larger accumulation of iron ore between the cities of Königsfels and Immerfall. There you can follow a route that you repeat over and over again.
There is an alternative route in Cutlass Reef, where you can find silver and gold in addition to iron and thus quickly level up mining.
The map generally provides a good overview of the locations of the various resources. Open it with the “M” key and click on “Places with raw materials”. There you can see where the different raw materials are available and you can also tell which landscape you are in based on the nature of the map.
This interactive map created by players is helpful when searching for materials, as it shows exactly where you can find fibers, oil and other raw materials.
At what level can you mine iron ore? To mine iron ore you need a pickaxe, but no special mining skills. Because you can already mine iron at level 0.
From level 25 onwards, iron ore even appears on the map.
What other trick is there? There are fishing quests from the NPC Michael Shields in Windkreis. For one of them you have to capture fish swords. However, if you leave this quest active and don’t hand it in immediately, you can fish more swords and then dismantle them.
According to a Reddit user, this yields up to 137 iron ingots per 30 minutes, which is the equivalent of 548 iron ore.
