New World is getting a huge patch today

The next quarterly patch called “Blood of the Sands” is coming to New World today, July 16th. This brings not only a giant sandworm as an opponent, but also new story content and important “Quality of Life” updates. We at MeinMMO summarize everything.

What’s in the patch? The big highlight is Snah Neshen, the new raid boss. This appears in an instanced arena in the new area Brimstone Sands and can be fought with 20 players. On the test server there was a lot of positive feedback on the fight, which is said to be quite challenging. At the same time, the raid groups for the rest of the game world will also be activated.

Other important items in the patch include:

  • There are new story quests that you can experience alongside the Silver Crows from the last quarterly patch. A new season pass is also included.
  • Outpost Storm will work across servers to reduce wait times. Changes will also be made to make rounds faster and PvP rewards will be generally improved.
  • There is a special seasonal activity where 10+ players can battle waves of enemies to earn new rewards.
  • A new heart rune ability comes into play, allowing you to summon sandworms like Dune.
  • There are new pieces of equipment for crafters and new rare materials for collectors.
  • In the middle of the new season, a transmog system will also be released, which will allow you to put any skin you have found onto your equipment. However, there is no exact date for this yet. Two events will also take place until autumn.

In addition, the First Light area will be completely disabled. This should return in a revised form with the new expansion in autumn.

When is the patch coming out? On July 6th at 14:00 the New World servers will be taken offline. The maintenance is expected to take two hours. From 16:00 you should be able to play the new patch.

New Season Pass, Fishing Adjustments, and more

Besides the big changes, what else is in the patch? Blood of the Sands brings a number of minor adjustments, but they shouldn’t be underestimated either. We present the most important of them here, you can find the rest in the patch notes on the official site.

The patch brings a brand new 3v3 arena in PvP and an overhaul of the offers in the faction shops, including better armor and weapons. Also, PvP reward streaks now give more named armor, shadow shards, and plaster of paris. This makes PvP more attractive in general, especially in combination with the changes to Outpost Storm.

Crafters have a new set of gear they can craft. These are guaranteed to have an armor value of 600, but are directly linked to the player. So they are for your own use only.

For collectors there are new materials that can be found when mining with a bit of luck. Fishing even got a big rework. The times before a fish bites have been reduced, there are new treasures and baits. In addition, the fish population in the areas has been adjusted.

If you also have too much plaster and shadow shards, you can create a new legendary plaster cast. This guarantees an item with a armor value of 600.

What is changing in the combat system? Players can now block ranged attacks without a shield. However, only 50% of damage is absorbed for one-handed and magic weapons, and only 30% of damage is absorbed for two-handed weapons. Also, players now move faster while blocking (from 1.65 to 2 meters per second).

Of course, the balance of all weapons has also been adjusted to make them more balanced in both PvE and PvP.

What do you think of the new patch in New World? Do you like the changes or is there something missing that you really want to see in the game?

Recently, the number of players in New World has gone down a bit, but the ratings have gone up: The MMORPG New World is “largely positive” on Steam for the first time since it was released – what has changed?
