New World distributes codes for closed beta, but does not let all European players with access in

Today, July 25, 2024, the closed beta for the new Aeternum version of New World starts, which is scheduled to bring the MMORPG to consoles in October. Unfortunately, not everyone who is interested can take part in the test phase with an invitation code, which is causing trouble.

What’s the problem with the beta codes? When the closed beta of New World Aeternum was announced, information was circulating that interested parties from North America and Europe could take part in the test phase if they received a corresponding code for PlayStation or Xbox.

The codes come not only from Amazon Games itself, but also from various English-language games websites that were allowed to distribute some beta access among their communities. The people in charge of New World apparently also explained to these websites that the participants must come from the US or EU regions.

No further restrictions were mentioned. Accordingly, some lucky people were surprised because they were unable to redeem their beta code on the PlayStation. The reason for this is now making the rounds on Reddit: On the PlayStation, the codes for the closed console beta are region-specific and can only be redeemed in 20 (out of more than 45) EU countries.

Which EU countries are supported? Interested parties from the following countries can redeem their code for the closed beta on PlayStation: Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Malta, Republic of Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and United Kingdom.

New details on the closed beta of New World Aeternum

Those responsible for New World have now published a schedule for the test. Participants can look forward to two phases:

  • From 25 July 2024 at 18:00: With a freshly created hero, you start the revamped Aeternum experience of New World.
  • From 28 July 2024 at 16:00: With a character at level 65, you can now optionally take a look at the endgame of the MMORPG, with endgame equipment, the maximum number of attribute points and fully trained weapon skills.

    • In addition, there is a set event program so that as many interested people as possible can take part in battles for outposts, for example.

    Race for influence: 29 JULY, 12:00 CEST

  • Conquer towers of influence and defeat opposing factions in open-world battles for territorial supremacy.
  • Participate by marking PvP and heading to an area with an active Influence Race. Open the Conflicts menu on the map to see active and upcoming Influence Races.
  • This test requires a level 65 character.

    • Outpost Storm: JULY 30, 01:00 CEST

  • Fight together with a group of 20 players to capture and hold 3 outposts. Collect resources to upgrade your defenses and gain tactical advantages for your team.
  • Participate by queuing for an Outpost Assault in the Activities menu.
  • This test requires a level 65 character.

    • Outlaw PvP Zone: JULY 31, 1:00 AM CEST

  • Enter a lawless zone where everyone is fighting against everyone else and against the environment. Collect rewards and resources from chests, monsters and other players. Then you must get out of there as quickly as possible before other looters can take your treasure.
  • Participate by traveling to the southwestern area of ​​Cutlass Reef (marked in blue on the map).
  • A level 65 character is recommended for this test.

    • What else do I need to know about the closed beta? Participants do not need an active online subscription (Xbox Game Pass or PlayStation Plus) to participate in the beta. In addition, only some of the content from New World Aeternum will be available for testing.

    Not included are:

  • the first 4 pre-rendered film sequences
  • PvP Wars
  • the “Gorgon Lair” raid
  • the group test content (Sandworm, Hatchery, Winter Runeforge)
  • Invasions
  • Leaderboards
  • the shop and the season pass
  • Lucky Tokens
  • 9 of the 12 expeditions (only Amrhein Excavation, Starstone Barrow and Heart of Stormwind are playable)
