On Sunday, Tove Alexandersson, Lina Strand, Max Peter Bejmer and Gustav Bergman took World Cup gold in the sprint relay in Kolding.
Two days later, Sweden could rejoice over more World Cup medals in the knockout sprint in Fredericia.
The best was, as many times before, Tove Alexandersson who took gold in the ladies’ competition, her eleventh straight in the World Cup context.
The 29-year-old from Borlänge was fastest in his qualifying group on Tuesday morning and favorite for tonight’s finals over a distance of just over two kilometers.
In the knockout competitions, she held the favorite pressure and won by a full 15 seconds ahead of Megan Carter Davies, Great Britain, in the final. Eef van Dongen, Netherlands, took bronze. Sara Hagström finished fourth and Lina Strand was sixth, last, in the women’s final.
In the men’s final, there were two more Swedish medals. Silver by August Mollén and bronze by Jonatan Gustafsson. Matthias Kyburz, Switzerland, took gold, one second ahead of Mollén and another four seconds ahead of Gustafsson. Martin Regborn was eliminated in the quarterfinals.
Karolin Ohlsson stamped incorrectly at one of the inspections and was washed in the qualifiers. Both Isac von Krusenstierna and Emil Svensk competed in the qualifiers.
On Thursday, the orienteering sprint WC in Denmark ends with an individual sprint in Vejle.
