CD PROJEKT RED announced that as part of its strategic partnership with Epic Games, it has begun development work for the new Witcher game, The Witcher Saga.

CD PROJEKT RED has also announced that they will migrate to Unreal Engine 5 as part of a multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games. Since The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings released in 2011, CD PROJEKT RED has used proprietary REDengine technology to create its games. This new relationship with Epic covers not only licensing but also the technical development of Unreal Engine 5 and, where relevant, potential future versions of Unreal Engine. Starting with the development of The Witcher Saga game in the The Witcher series, CD PROJEKT RED developers will collaborate with Epic developers with the primary goal of helping adapt the engine for open world experiences.

Talking about the use of Unreal Engine 5 and future games for this, CD PROJEKT RED’s CTO Pawel Zawodny said:
