New Waterford subdivision approved by council

New Waterford subdivision approved by council

A new subdivision in Waterford has been approved by Norfolk County Council.

Councilors voted in favor of a zoning bylaw amendment to enable a 51-unit development on a 2.52 hectare property on Nichol Street West. Council voted in favor of the amendment at its May 11 meeting without debate.

The area surrounding the property includes single-detached homes, storage facilities and historical industrial sites to the east and south. The Waterford Heritage and Agricultural Museum and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 123 are located to the north.

The development will include 26 semi-detached dwelling units and 25 street townhouse units.

County planning staff, in a report to councilors, said the development will result in increased population density as well as growth and contribute to Norfolk’s growing housing market.
