New video delves into the huge world of war

Henry Cavill, known as Superman and Witcher, is an avowed fan of the tabletop game Warhammer 40,000. The star has been trying for years to launch his own Amazon series from the world of armored sci-fi super soldiers – so far without success. And it’s getting tight, even if the project isn’t officially off the table yet.

Now comes the animated video game anthology Secret level from the creators of Love, Death & Robots Cavill previously. In the first season, which is scheduled to premiere on Amazon this year, there will be an (animated) Warhammer episode for which there is now a dedicated episode trailer, which the ex-Superman has probably clicked on far too often:

Warhammer 40,000 is Henry Cavill’s biggest sci-fi dream – it’s coming true in a different way

In the miniatures war game Warhammer 40K we find ourselves in a distant future where humans fight against aliens and supernatural creatures using brutal sci-fi and fantasy methods. Since Secret Level is a video game adaptation, it refers specifically to the still young game title Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

Other video game worlds appearing in Season 1 include:

  • Armored Core
  • Concord
  • God of War
  • Crossfire
  • Dungeons & Dragons
  • Exodus
  • Honor of Kings
  • Mega Man
  • New World: Aeternum
  • Pac Man
  • Sifu
  • Spelunkey
  • The Outer Worlds
  • Unreal Tournament
  • The English voice cast is impressive: both Keanu Reeves and Arnold Schwarzenegger are there vocally when Secret Level is on December 10, 2024 launches on Amazon. New episodes appear weekly.

It remains to be seen whether Henry Cavill will get the opportunity to become a live-action space marine himself. With Fallout, Amazon has already celebrated a major video game series success.

If you want to immerse yourself in the world of Warhammer 40k outside of table and video games, you can do so with the short film Astartes.

And if you generally like sci-fi set in the far distant future, we have something for you too:

Sci-Fi Podcast: Is Dune Prophecy worth it as a series extension to Dune?

Set in the same universe as Denis Villeneuve’s two Dune films, Dune: Prophecy takes place 10,000 years before Paul Atreides of the Bene Gesserit Order. But does the sci-fi story of sisters Valya and Tula Harkonnen reach the same heights as the hit films?
