The fact that a chicken has more in common with a dinosaur than a crocodile has now become common knowledge among the population. However, it has only been fully confirmed in the last 30 years that many dinosaur species at that time increasingly had bird-like features and sometimes even wore feathered costumes.

Jurassic World was criticized in 2015 for misrepresentation

When the Jurassic Park franchise was rebooted with Jurassic World in 2015, it came under heavy criticism for continuing to use the misrepresentation established in the previous Jurassic Park films. Paleontologist Dr. Gareth Dyke told BBC at the time: “We know that all of these dinosaur groups had feathers of some sort.”

Dr. Jack Horner, who worked as a scientific advisor on Jurassic World, explained the decision not to include the new findings on grounds of continuity:

We depicted the dinosaurs as best we could at the time. We can’t just bring in feathered dinosaurs now. We have to stay consistent. Jurassic Park 1, 2, 3 and 4 are all part of the same story. So unfortunately we can’t just change the look.

Jurassic World 3: A New Age finally included the Pyroraptor seven years later the first feathered dinosaur the sci-fi series.
