Sony has released a new update for the PS5. This includes user-friendly features for everyone who also wants to listen to music while playing. Fans of PSVR2 titles were also thought of.
Sony regularly delivers new updates for the PS5 consoles. These are primarily used for system maintenance. All too often it just says, “We’ve improved the performance and stability of the system software,” and “We’ve improved the messaging and usability on some screens.”
But there is more than that in the update that has now been released. The new functions bring sensible quality-of-life adjustments. These also apply to the new PS5 models, which should be available in time for the Christmas business.

Music playback improvements and new option when playing with PlayStation VR2 glasses
What features are in the new system software? Sony has added helpful changes to the PS5 console with the 23.02-08.20.00 update. In the Control Center, you can now browse your music categories, playlists and songs in a much more user-friendly way thanks to a new two-column layout.
For players with PSVR2 glasses, a setting has been added that gives you more options when viewing images on the TV. You can now freely decide whether the camera’s transmission image should be displayed on your TV or not.
The passthrough screen allows you to quickly switch between normal gameplay and a transparent view. This saves you from having to take off the PSVR2 glasses every time, for example if you want to have a quick drink or something to eat.
What else is there? In addition to these two functions, a new voice command has been integrated. You can search for new PS5 features using the “What’s New” command. However, this feature is only available in English. For the time being, only player accounts from the USA and the United Kingdom have access to this. It remains unclear when the restrictions will apply to other regions.
When will the update come? Update 8.20 is already available for PS5 and can be downloaded by you. After installation and a restart, the new functions are available to you.
How big is the download file? Sony states a download size of approximately 1.19 GB. This means that even gamers with slower internet shouldn’t have to wait too long until the download is completed.

Go to Settings > Accessories > PlayStation VR2 and activate Block pass-through view on TVto prevent the camera’s passthrough image from appearing on your TV while using your PS VR2.
Currently, Voice Command (Preview) is only available in English for players with PlayStation Network accounts in the US and UK.
