New trainer Ivar van Dinteren of Jong FC Utrecht: ‘We are not the ugly duckling’

In the 1990s, Van Dinteren himself also played for FC Utrecht’s academy. Together with Joost Broerse he left for FC Groningen in 1997. Now he returns to Utrecht as trainer of what was the ugly duckling of the first division last year. “I don’t think we’re the ugly duckling, that doesn’t suit Utrecht,” Van Dinteren parries. “Everyone knows, a young team, those are really very young guys. It is difficult for any young team to make a good impression.”
