In Robert Kirkman’s comic book, Rick loses his right hand quite early in the story. In the 28th edition, this is cut off by the governor. In the series, however, Rick was able to escape this cruel fate. Instead, as a reference to Rick’s comic look, the main character Aaron (Ross Marquand) lost his hand in Season 9 and ended up wearing a prosthetic limb with a Morgenstern attachment.

One of Rick’s most iconic moments never made it into the series adaptation. As Insider reports, Lead actor Andrew Lincoln even campaigned (unsuccessfully) for it for years, that his Rick Grimes should also lose a hand. With the new The Walking Dead spin-off, Lincoln’s wish could still come true.
