The 6 episodes of Tales of the Walking Dead illuminate different aspects of the zombie universe and cover a time frame, completely detached from an overarching storyline from the beginning of the zombie apocalypse to decades later away. There are no direct connections to the plot of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead and World Beyond – with one exception.
Episode 3 in particular should be exciting for The Walking Dead fans. This illuminates the changed past of the later ones Whisperer villain Alpha (played again by Samantha Morton), who is taken in by a steamboat community with her young daughter Lydia.

What sets the other zombie chapters apart is an interesting play with experimental narrative forms and genres, which have never (or very rarely) been seen in The Walking Dead universe. These include one weird time warp storya non-linear crime thriller or spooky haunted house ghost horror.
