New rules for Taxis
On January 1, new rules for taxis came into force, according to a press release from The Swedish Transport Agency.
The new rules affect both drivers and passengers, and affect who can drive a taxi and how much it costs to take a taxi.
This is how drivers are affected
The new rules that affect drivers are about how old you have to be to get a taxi license.
On January 1, the age limit was lowered from 21 years to 20 years. However, you must still have had a driver’s license for at least two years.
– This means that a 20-year-old who has had a B driving license for at least two years can now apply for a taxi driver’s license, says Maria Åkerlundinvestigator at the Swedish Transport Agency.
This is a change that has been requested by the industry, and aims to make it easier to get professional drivers and for young people to get a job.

This is how passengers are affected
The change that affects passengers concerns how the prices for a taxi journey are reported.
Inside and outside all taxis, there must be clear signs showing price information outside and inside the vehicle, showing the so-called comparative price for the trip. The price indicates a journey of 1 mile and 15 minutes.
Above a certain amount, a taxi driver must be able to provide a fixed price statement, and before the new year the comparative price for a taxi journey was SEK 500.
Now it is tied to the price base amount to reflect the rate of inflation, and is raised to SEK 700. The amount will be adjusted annually.
