Thrilling excitement and nerve-wracking decisions await you: On August 10th, the well-known platform Steam will open the gates to a brand new zombie survival beta, which will be set in the “Walking Dead” universe. MeinMMO tells you something about the innovative gameplay and explains how you have a chance to get into the closed beta.
What kind of game is this? The publisher “Skybound Games” has already convinced numerous fans of zombie apocalypses in the past with titles like “The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series”. In the new release “The Walking Dead: Betrayal”, 5-8 participants are left behind in a post-apocalyptic world. Starting with no resources, players are forced to work as a team from the start.
Together they must gather produce to cook life-saving food, for example, or to craft valuable weapons to defend themselves against the relentless zombie horde. But among them there are also traitors who have only one goal: to eliminate their comrades-in-arms.
They can do this in a variety of ways. Whether they’re poisoning the food, setting traps, or even making noise to attract the zombie horde waiting outside – creativity and cunning are required.
But this is where a new feature comes into play, which is why this game stands out from the previously known titles such as “Among Us”: If a player finds death, it’s not the end. You can watch a trailer for the game here:

What makes The Walking Dead: Betrayal different from Among Us? Whoever was killed by the traitor in Among Us could only fly around and watch as a useless ghost.
In the new Walking Dead game, however, the dead have the option of teleporting into a zombie and thus tracking down the traitors or warning and supporting their friends who are still alive. For example, you can lure the zombies in the direction of the traitor, which leads to completely different game mechanics from what you are already familiar with. And that’s not all.
Communication is the key to survival: Therefore, the game has a proximity chat that allows to communicate with other players nearby. As soon as two players find the same color radio, they can also communicate at a greater distance. There is also a text chat and emotes, as is already known from many other games.
How do you get into the beta? Closed Beta begins August 10th. However, participation is limited.
