On one-eyed Cicci, Hellström, 29, was one of twelve teams that reached the jump-off for the victory and the points.
Once there, they offered a new, flawless ride.
Sixth place, tangentially the best in the World Cup, gave Hellström another eleven points to the 30 she has collected so far this winter. This means that she has a very good chance of becoming the second Swede in the final in a few months.
Usually enough
Hellström is ninth in the summary with three competitions left – and that with a point that is usually enough to get a place in the final.
Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli won in Helsinki in October, something that gave 20 points. The meritorious championship rider chased more in Leipzig but had a crash with Kalinka Van De Nachtegaele in the preliminary round and missed the jump-off.
She had to settle for one point for 16th place.
Gerrit Nieberg won the jump-off, ahead of compatriot Richard Vogel.
Three competitions remain in the Western European league, in Amsterdam, Bordeaux and Gothenburg. Augustsson Zanotelli needs a perfect hit to reach the final on April 4-8.
Jumping in Gothenburg
Both she and Wilma Hellström are selected to compete in Scandinavium in Gothenburg on February 23-26.
Olympic and WC winners Peder Fredricson and Malin Baryard Johnsson are not betting on the World Cup this winter. Fredricson has only done one World Cup race, where he was scoreless. Baryard Johnsson is resting the championship horse Indiana and has completely given up the World Cup.
World No. 1 von Eckermann has competed all the more diligently and leads the World Cup with 88 points after eleven competitions.
