Evaluating the allegations that the USA allowed the use of long-range weapons supplied to Ukraine on Russian territory, Lavrov pointed out that the White House and the US Department of Defense (Pentagon) have not yet confirmed this information.
Lavrov pointed out that the Ukrainian army attacked the Russian territory Bryansk region with American-made Land Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) missiles and said, “The repeated use of ATACMS missiles at night in attacks against the Bryansk region on the border is a signal that the West wants to increase tension. High-tech missiles can be used without the help of Americans.” “It is not possible to use it. We will consider this as a new stage in the West’s war against Russia and we will respond accordingly.” he said.
UPDATE OF NUCLEAR DOCTRINE
Stating that Russia’s nuclear doctrine has been updated and that he hopes that this doctrine will be taken into consideration in the West, Lavrov said, “We believe that nuclear weapons are, above all, a means of deterrence and preventing nuclear war. We take such an approach to this situation.” he said.
Recalling that German Chancellor Olaf Scholz had previously stated that he did not want to give “Taurus” missiles to Ukraine, Lavrov stated that “this is a responsible approach.”
