In Spain, offices, shops and restaurants are forced to turn down the air conditioning. The new law means that the systems must be set so that the temperature does not fall below 27 degrees in the summer or higher than 19 degrees in the winter.

The decision is part of the attempt to reduce the country’s gas consumption by seven percent, in line with the EU’s agreement to reduce dependence on Russian gas.
