New snowy weather moves in over West Sweden

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

Wednesday’s heavy snow, which among other things led to canceled flights and buses in the Stockholm area, has moved east, away from Sweden. However, the snow still makes it difficult for buses to arrive and there are disturbances in parts of the rail traffic, writes SL on its website on Thursday morning.

During Thursday, a new batch of snow is expected to move in over the Gothenburg area and parts of western Sweden. A total of 5–10 centimeters of snow is expected to fall, locally it can be up to 15–20 centimeters.

— It is a line with slightly heavier snowfall that stretches from Greater Gothenburg and the Kungsbacka tracts up towards the Skövde tracts, said SMHI’s meteorologist Max Schildt on Wednesday.

SMHI has issued yellow weather warnings in parts of the northwestern part of Västra Götaland and southwest of Lake Vänern, as the sometimes heavy snowfall can lead to traffic disruptions.

Towards the afternoon, the snow flurries are expected to subside, but during the night to Friday another area with heavy snow flurries is expected in parts of Västra Götaland.
