The new shooter Dysterra went into Early Access on November 23 on Steam, but just a few days later the developers had to roll back. Blame it on cheaters.

This is Dysterra: The new sci-fi shooter on Steam takes place on Earth in the distant future. The discovery of the incredible energy source Terrasite changed our world: Terrasite advanced science and technology, but also started several wars and struggles for the coveted resource.

In the survival game you play a survivor and collect resources and food, build yourself a shelter and try to survive in the harsh environment of the futuristic earth.

Cheaters overrun Dystera on Steam

That’s why there was a rollback: After several beta phases, the shooter launched on November 23 on Steam and was immediately overrun by cheaters. The plague was probably so devastating for the game and its economy that the developers decided to roll back the server.

The rollbacks are considered one of the most drastic measures as they reset all progress to a specific date. Everyone is affected, including honest players, which is why the developers only rarely resort to rollbacks.

In a news post on Steam, the Dysterra devs apologized for the rollback and promised that they would minimize the damage caused by cheaters in the future.

The developers also say: In a post on the Steam community forums, the Dysterra devs also warned against collaborating with cheaters. Anyone who does not use cheats themselves, but knowingly plays with someone who does and benefits from it, will also be punished.

The devs therefore advise against living in a house with cheaters or sharing inventory with them. So if you’re playing Dysterra yourself, pay attention to what your fellow players are doing as well. This could have dire consequences for you as it is considered an unfair advantage.
