1680325463 New sci fi series turns your world view upside down

Today, March 31, 2023, The Gift launches on Amazon Prime* with three episodes. The sci-fi series, which is then always published on Fridays, promises: After 9 episodes the world will be different. And we are invited to be part of this revolution.

Based on the acclaimed original: Amazon’s sci-fi series The Gift shocks you into a new reality

The book Die Gabe * (The Power) by Naomi Alderman, which was praised by literary critics, the reading public and not least by Barak Obama, attracted wide attention after its publication in 2016. Amazon’s series, posing as Social study between science fiction and fantasy classify, repeat the same thought experiment on your screens:

The Power – The Gift: Science Fiction at Amazon

Some of the world’s population will one day begin to display the show’s eponymous gift: Young women suddenly have the ability to deliver electric shocks from their bodies. Without tools. It’s a phenomenon that the rest of the world sees first as a hoax and then as a threat.

But with increasing spread and the discovery that teenage girls can also evoke the newly discovered electronic organ in older women, the balance of power changes dramatically. And just like the original novel, the Amazon series follows the dawn of this new world order through different characters.

Sci-Fi Escalation at Amazon: The Gift shows the overthrow of our world from multiple perspectives

The different characters make the scope of what is happening really tangiblebecause they break down the global changes of Amazon’s sci-fi series to a personal level:

  • The Nigerian journalist tune (Toheeb Jimoh) is one of the first to document human electricity and builds his career on it.
  • mayoress Margot After initial doubts, Cleary-Lopez (Toni Collette) realizes that the gift can no longer be kept silent.
  • But what does that mean for your daughter? Jos (Auli’i Cravalho) whose power is flawed?
  • foster child Allie (Halle Bush) finds a religious vocation in her new power.
  • The British gangster daughter Roxy (Ria Zmitrowicz), on the other hand, uses the chance to make a profit as a human stun gun and win her father’s favor.
  • Besides sees Tatiana (Zrinka Cvitešić) suddenly sees her hard-earned life of luxury as the trophy wife of an Eastern European government member in a new light.

The gift holds up a mirror to society and passes on the fear, oppression and abuse of women to others. Some men find it difficult to deal with the fact that they will soon be the “weaker sex”. It is above all the small gestures of the Amazon series that illustrate the change: girls are suddenly no longer allowed to board the school bus because their male classmates are afraid. Or: Roxy tells a bouncer that he should smile because his face would look much prettier then.

But that doesn’t mean that everything gets better with powerful women. Abuse of power is gender independent, and those who were previously oppressed can try to improve the situation…or succumb to the temptation to become a tyrant themselves.

The series The Gift had some problems behind the scenes. The episode after episode continues escalating revolution there’s still an electrifying pull to attend. Because it’s a sci-fi vision that we haven’t seen in this form before.
