To meet the new rules, the municipality has marked 80 areas where parking of electric scooters is permitted.
– Each area has several parking spaces. Then there are also all the city’s bicycle racks, where you can also park your bicycle, says Oscar Grönvall, traffic manager in Helsingborg municipality.
Right now there are around 2,000 electric scooters in the city, distributed between four different companies.
– The parking spaces will be enough, I think so. But of course we have to evaluate this afterwards.
“A bit exaggerated”
Melia Birkfeldt from Helsingborg goes to high school and often rides an electric scooter between breaks.
– For my part, I think the new law is a bit excessive. I don’t think you should be fined and I think you should be allowed to ride two on one bike, she says.
The new laws should contribute to increased safety and order in traffic, something that Maaria Asp thinks is positive.
– It is good. It will be safer for us who are out walking.
But according to Oscar Grönvall, there may possibly be increased risks for those who ride electric scooters, as they will in some cases have to travel on the street.
– As electric scooter riders, you are more exposed because they will hit cars out in traffic.
