New rules and fewer epa accidents – Wilma, 16: “Good with safety”

226 people were injured in 166 accidents involving tractors between January and July this year. That is 17 percent less accidents than the same period last year, which had 200 accidents with 306 injuries and one death.

The Swedish Transport Agency believes that some of this can be explained by the new epa rules that came last August last year.

– It is too early to draw any precise conclusions. But we see from our data that the severity of accidents with a-tractors has decreased. Single-vehicle accidents have also decreased. It may be due to requirements for seat belts, winter tires and that there may only be one person per seat, says Khabat Amin, statistician at the Swedish Transport Agency.

At the same time, the number of a-tractors has increased in Sweden. At the turn of the year, 56,000 were registered and at the end of August this year there were a further 1,500. To be able to drive epa, at least a driver’s license with AM authorization, also called a moped driver’s license, with an age limit of 15 is required.
