The gamescom 2022 Opening Night Live is over and provided us with some interesting trailers for new games. Included is an RPG that looks like a kung fu movie and is reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima. But it also offers you the opportunity to do a normal job.
What game is it? The new role-playing game presented at the opening night live of gamescom 2022 is called “Where Winds Meet” and is being developed by Everstone Games.
What do we know about the release? There is currently no release date for Where Winds Meet. We do know, however, that the current status is that it will only be released for the PC.
What is the game about? As publisher NetEase revealed in a press release, the role-playing game will have you forging your own destiny within Chinese history (via GamesPress).
The action-adventure puts you in the “era of the 10 kingdoms” within Chinese history, which is dated to the years 907 to 960. There, according to NetEase, you take on the role of a wandering swordsman who uses his martial arts to survive in this time of wars and conflicts.
In the Reveal trailer, the title shows various aspects of the gameplay. These include sword fights, stealth elements, parkour and climbing interludes as well as shooting with a bow and arrow.

Gameplay features sword fighting, everyday jobs and building houses
This is how you fight in Where Winds Meet: One of the most important gameplay elements of Where Winds Meet is your character’s sword fighting technique. You can counter enemy attacks and reflect them with Tai Chi.
In addition, there are various martial arts skills and the general acrobatics of the character, which you can use to your advantage not only in but also outside of fights. Your character is able to climb walls, jump over roofs and sprint over waves.
In addition to melee techniques, you also have ranged weapons that you can also integrate into your fighting style.
In the fight itself, however, not only human opponents await you, but also various wild animals and supernatural creatures. According to NetEase, in order to defeat them, you have to adapt your approach.
These role-playing elements make Where Winds Meets special: The action-adventure not only offers you the opportunity to fight, but also has typical role-playing elements. So you should be able to decide for yourself whether you want to stay true to your moral code and try to protect the innocent in this war-torn world, or whether you only seek your own good.
In addition, you can take on different roles within society from the game and do normal jobs. For example, it should be possible for you to embody a doctor and save lives. There is also the possibility of becoming a trader and earning gold.
As the game magazine IGN found out in an interview with the developers, the special thing about it is an online component. Everstone Games probably revealed that you can not only do these jobs in interactions with NPCs, but also online with other players. As an example, the doctor was mentioned again, who can heal both NPCs and players.

The erection of buildings: Another highlight of Where Winds Meet is likely to be the erection of buildings. So you should have an extensive construction system with over 600 components. These allow you to create and inhabit constructions in the world of Where Winds Meet.
In general, Where Winds Meet wants to create an “unprecedented open-world sandbox experience” in which you should have countless freedoms in the way you play.
