New role-playing epic on Steam seems to want to redefine “replayability”.

With Baldur’s Gate 3, a huge role-playing game with a classic fantasy setting and turn-based combat is coming to Steam on August 3, 2023 (PS5: August 31). In terms of alternative endings and replayability, this could be a real monster.

What is Baldur’s Gate 3 game? Baldur’s Gate 3 is a tactical, turn-based role-playing game in isometric perspective. The series has been around since the 90s and is an official spin-off of the world-renowned pen and paper role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons.

Baldur’s Gate 3 also defines itself shortly before release by naughty bears and its incredible size. The statements of a developer who worked alone on the alternative endings for over 6 months now suggest how huge the title will be.

How big will Baldur’s Gate 3 be? We can’t give you an estimate, but we can give you some hard numbers from an interview with the developers of Baldur’s Gate 3 on the “Fextralife” site.

They also talked to Chrystal Ding there. Ding says she sat alone at different ends of the game for over 6 months and then talks about an unbelievable number:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is said to have 17,000 alternate endings
  • Fextralife probed and asked how many “real” ends there were. Ends that also differ really big from each other. Ding couldn’t name a specific number, she would have had to think longer about it, which was obviously not possible at the time in the interview.

As a further number that should clarify the extent of the role-playing game, here is the length of the cutscenes:

  • Baldur’s Gate 3 is said to offer over 174 hours of cutscenes
  • According to the current information, Fextralife assumes that you can do up to eight rounds of the game without having to do too much twice.
