The nationwide protests in Iran have now continued for seven weeks following the death of Mahsa Amini since she was arrested by the country’s so-called morality police.
Sunday’s protests were carried out in areas where a large part of the population is Kurdish.
The regime responded with heavy crackdowns, arrests and attacks by security forces on protesters. The human rights organization Hengaw stated that around 30 people were injured in the town of Marivan when security forces opened fire.
The demonstrations followed widespread demonstrations in several locations around Iran on Saturday, when many shopkeepers chose to close their shops and picket strikes broke out.
