On Wall Street, all three of the most important stock market indices ended up well after the Fed’s interest rate decision on Wednesday. The Fed lowered its key interest rate by 0.5 percentage points.
The broad S&P 500 index was up 1.7 percent at the end of the trading day on Thursday and reached a new record high after rising to more than 5,700 points. The industrial-focused Dow Jones was up 1.3 percent at the close of the stock exchange and rose above 42,000 points for the first time.
The technology-focused Nasdaq index strengthened by 2.5 percent.
