New PSG stadium: candidate and anticipated cities

New PSG stadium candidate and anticipated cities

PSG is working to find new land and build its own stadium. Aulnay-sous-Bois, Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, Gonesse… Who will host the club?

PSG is officially living its final hours at the Parc des Princes. Unable to buy the stadium from the City of Paris, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, Nasser al-Khelaïfi, announced at the beginning of February that he wanted to leave the Park. The Parisian reveals, Friday March 29, that a letter dated March 11 confirms that the Parisian club is working to find land with the aim of building its new headquarters.

The letter, signed by the secretary general of PSG, Victoriano Melero, is addressed to Jean-Pierre Chaulet, the president of the commission of inquiry of the environmental master plan of the Île-de-France region (SDRIF-E), in charge to determine the development of the territory between now and 2040. According to the daily, which was able to consult the document, Nasser al-Khelaïfi’s right-hand man asks the Ile-de-France agent to protect, within the SDRIF-E, an area of 50 ha likely to accommodate the construction of a stadium that matches the ambitions of PSG.

Cities already candidates, none yet considered

If Saint-Germain-en-Laye, whose history and name are associated with PSG, has already withdrawn from the race for fear of traffic nuisance for residents according to the mayor, Arnaud Péricard, several towns of the Île-de-France region have already expressed their desire to welcome the club.

Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines offered land located in Montigny-le-Bretonneux, near the PSG Campus, which opened last summer in Poissy. Aulnay-sous-Bois, in Seine-Saint-Denis, and Gonesse, in Val-d’Oise, have also officially applied. Other cities have also reported themselves, but the region does not wish to communicate their identity. For the moment, no agglomeration would be anticipated.

Only the Joinville track in Val-de-Marne would have been ruled out, reports The Parisianbecause it would not meet the specifications, which stipulate having a site of at least 50 ha and being within a radius of 20 km around Paris.
