New protection hunt for wolves in Sörmland – attacked domestic animals

Recently, a wolf has repeatedly attacked domestic animals in an area between Eskilstuna, Strängnäs and Malmköping. Therefore, the county administrative board has now made the decision which means that hunting may be conducted on a wolf in parts of Eskilstuna and Strängnäs.

The County Administrative Board believes that protective hunting is needed as there is a risk of serious damage to domestic animals in the area. The last time a protective hunt for wolves was announced in Sörmland was at the beginning of October, and a wolf was then killed at the end of the month.

The latest attack in the area now affected took place on Wednesday when an alpaca was killed between Eskilstuna and Malmköping. That attack and the fact that another alpaca was killed a few days earlier, this time by a lynx, has led to concern in the area.
