After several wolf attacks on sheep at Linderödsåsen, the county administrative board in Skåne first gave the go-ahead for protective hunting of wolves.

The Administrative Court put a stop to it – but now it is free to hunt for protection again.

The Skåne County Administrative Board has made a new decision on protective hunting of wolves in the district of Linderödsåsen, as it was possible to show that the latest attack in Hörby municipality can be linked via DNA to wolves in that particular district.

The earlier stop for protective hunting is due to the fact that there was a risk that the genetically important wolf that moved in Österlen was at risk of being killed in connection with the hunt. But new dna results show that this particular wolf has moved outside Skåne – and carried out attacks on animals last week.

The protective hunt for wolves in Linderödsåsen will come into effect upon the next possible attack, the authority states in a press release.
