New project at VTI in Linköping for electric trucks – will investigate battery replacement instead of charging

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

For passenger cars there is already. For trucks there is also, but in China. It is about quickly changing the battery on a vehicle to shorten the time that the electric vehicle is stationary.

For many companies, switching to electric trucks will be a logistical challenge.

– They see that they have big problems when they have to switch to electric vehicles and have to plan for, more or less, long charging stops, says Jonas Jansson, head of department at VTI in Linköping.

Together with Linköping University, VTI will conduct a so-called feasibility study on battery replacement for electric trucks. The study will see what is needed to build a battery exchange system in Sweden. Partly it is about what the infrastructure needs to look like, and partly it is about investigating whether it is possible to get a battery exchange system so profitable that companies want to invest in it.
