The new player picture of the Norwegian professional footballer Omar Elabdellaoui has worked within the community of FC24 provided a lot of feedback. But there is a special story behind the card with the glasses.
This is the situation:
But not without reason. Because what at first glance seems like pure coolness turns out to be a dramatic story that almost cost the full-back his eyesight and thus his future professional career.

This is what lies behind it: The fact that Omar Elabdellaoui can be back on the pitch today is almost a miracle.
On New Year’s Eve 2021, the then Galatasaray Istanbul professional had a firecracker explode in his hand, which not only caused severe burns to his face, but also significantly impaired his eyesight.
The Norwegian later described how he perceived the accident in a Twitter post.
“When the accident happened, everything was black for me, I was completely blind and my face was completely burned,” Elabdellaoui recalled, going on to explain how it took months for him to regain the vision in his right eye.
“A very long journey with many operations” was necessary. On the one hand, a burnt eyelid had to be reconstructed and eye surgery had to be carried out using stem cells from his sister. A corneal transplant finally brought his odyssey to a positive end.
The Galatasaray Istanbul chapter is now over for the 32-year-old, who also played for Eintracht Braunschweig in Germany, but the memory of the stroke of fate from his time in Turkey now lives on in Ultimate Team.
For fans of the virtual trading card game, the new player image is already one of the best ever. One of the top comments on the card’s Futbin page calls it “the coolest dynamic image ever!”
