Gunn complements the set image with a few words expressing what fascinates him so much about the character Superman.

On this day in 1938, the first superhero entered our world through the imagination of Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. He gave us someone to believe in, not because of his great physical strength, but because of his character and determination, to do the right thingno matter what happens.

This should also make it clear in which direction Gunn’s Superman film is moving. Already at the time of the announcement, the filmmaker referenced Grant Morrison’s hopeful DC story All Star Supermanwhich first appeared in twelve issues between 2005 and 2008 and is one of the best DC comics ever.
