New Peugeot 508 test price engine All the information on

PEUGEOT 508. Five years after its launch, the second opus of the top-of-the-range sedan from the lion brand has gone through the restyling box. Discover all the news and our test carried out in Spain at the beginning of the summer.

[Mis à jour le 11 juillet à 10h08] To give impetus to its top-of-the-range sedan manufactured in the Alsatian factory in Mulhouse, Peugeot offered it an in-depth restyling, five years after its launch. If prices are on the rise (see below), the move upmarket of the new model, presented in April and on the market since June, is obvious with finishes now reduced to Allure, GT and PSE (Peugeot Sport Engineering).

It was precisely at the end of June that we were able to take the sedan in hand, near Malaga, Spain. While waiting to find out if this makeover will give a boost to the 508’s career, you can discover our test in detail and find all the information on the new family sedan below!

The test of the restyled Peugeot 508 SW

As with the Peugeot e-2008, it was on the Andalusian roads, in the south of Spain, that we were able to take the wheel of the restyled Peugeot 508 (break version) at the end of June. On a circuit of about fifty kilometers drawn on the heights of Malaga, Linternaute.com was able to test the driving comfort, the equipment and the autonomy of the plug-in hybrid model of the family sedan. Find our entire test below in pictures.

What’s new on the restyled Peugeot 508 (2023)?

New front end with an original lighting signature, arrival of the new Peugeot logo on the front, modernized interior with a revised i-cockpit, there are many visual novelties…

  • Outside, the restyled Peugeot 508 adopts the manufacturer’s new trends, especially visible at the front of the vehicle, with its more aggressive design. The sedan is the first of the lion brand to integrate the three claws in its shield instead of the luminous “croc” placed under the headlights of the 2018 version.

  • The grille with pins, widened and refined, has been revisited and hosts in its center the new Peugeot coat of arms adorned with a lion’s head. There were only a few alterations to the rear of the car, note the new LED lights incorporating the three claws, the scrolling indicators and the disappearance of the logo replaced by the letters PEUGEOT

  • In the passenger compartment, many new features have been added to the elegant 508. Beyond the quality of the materials used to give character to the interior of the sedan, the manufacturer has modernized several elements. The traditional automatic gearbox lever has thus been replaced by a rocker button, already seen in the new 408. The driver can select the different modes of the eight-speed automatic gearbox with a simple push.

  • The i-cockpit has also been rejuvenated with the new PEUGEOT i-Connect Advanced system equipped with a 10-inch touch screen (as standard) of better quality, in high definition. Access to the various menus has been simplified and the 508 has kept its elegant piano key shortcuts. Night Vision (night vision) in 2018 – a device to detect the presence of pedestrians or animals using an infrared camera positioned in the grille – is still in use on the restyled model.

  • The restyled Peugeot 508 now only offers three trim levels: Allure, GT and PSE. The color range has also been reduced, now seven in number, but three new colors are appearing: Okenite White, Eclipse Blue and Titanium Gray. They are added to selenium gray and artense, elixir red and black perla nera.

The engines of the restyled Peugeot 508 (2023)

There are fewer new features under the hood with the overall maintenance of current engines. It’s a little surprise since we expected to find the 136 horsepower hybrid petrol engine seen for example on the Peugeot 3008. This restyled Peugeot 508 ultimately offers four engine choices: the 130hp 1.5 BlueHDI diesel, two versions plug-in hybrid engine, one with a power of 180hp – a novelty – the other with 225hp, and finally at the top of the range we find the sporty model of the 508 PSE with its 360 combined horsepower.

What is the price of the restyled Peugeot 508 (2023)?

With the disappearance of the three-cylinder petrol 1.2 Puretech 130, the diesel engine is now the entry price of the restyled Peugeot 508. The 1.5 BlueHDI 130 four-cylinder range in Allure finish costs 45,900 euros, which is an increase of 2,480 euros compared to the first price of the version of 2018 (the petrol model 1.2 Puretech 130). To become the owner of one of the two “plug-in hybrid” versions of the sedan, you have to pay a little more than 50,000 euros. The 180hp version is available from 50,200 euros, almost 2,000 euros less than the more powerful model (225hp) offered at 52,100 euros without paid options. Finally, to afford the sports version, the 508 Peugeot Sport Engineered, with its 4-wheel drive and 360hp under the hood, you have to pay a minimum of 70,650 euros.

We were also able to take the wheel of the Peugeot 508 sedan in its top-of-the-range GT 225 horsepower version, decked out in a captivating red! This 508 particularly seduced us with its dynamism, its comfort and its smooth and precise steering. You can find all the photos and impressions by clicking above.
