The first info on the new restyled Peugeot 208

Surprising in the good sense of the term when it was released in 2019, the second generation Peugeot 208 won over the general public with its modern and quite spectacular line. For its restyling, the brand’s engineers and designers embarked on an in-depth overhaul with, in particular, a few elements already seen on the latest Peugeot models. Here are the main new features to know.

  • The most significant changes between the Peugeot 208 of 2019 vs that of 2023 will take place at the front of the vehicle. The grille, very descending on the latest version, will be much more stretched to accommodate the new brand logo in its center, thus better highlighted. The bow of the restyled Peugeot 208, more refined, will bring out the brand’s new light signature, with the three claws placed on either side of the grille and encroaching largely on the shield.
  • On the flanks, the novelties will be less spectacular. If the new Peugeot logo will be visible on the hubs of the rims, it may not appear on the front fenders, like what was done on the restyled 508. This would confirm the early abandonment of this signature yet developed on the latest 308 and 408.
  • At the rear of the vehicle, the monogram 208, in italics, will appear at the foot of the boot, on the left. The Lion, usually located under the windshield wiper, should disappear while the light strip which connects the rear lights around the trunk could change slightly.
  • Inside, the main novelty will come from the new multimedia system, more reactive, installed on a larger screen, identical to that installed in the new 308. The different lighting moods in the passenger compartment will be revisited. Finally, the brand’s new logo will take place in the center of the steering wheel, on the driver’s airbag.

What engines will be offered on the restyled Peugeot 208?

There will also be new engine side, including the arrival of the very first 208 hybrid. Fitted with a 48V micro-hybrid PureTech petrol block, it will reach 100 and 136 horsepower depending on the version. The electric motor on board the 2023 model will be more powerful than that of 2019, increasing from 136 to 156 hp. The e-208 will also see its performance in terms of autonomy progress, with a new battery allowing it to drive an additional forty kilometers to easily cross the 400 kilometer mark.

When will the restyled Peugeot 208 be released?

It is at the beginning of the summer that the restyled Peugeot 208 should make its first laps. Its marketing is scheduled for the next school year with an estimated delivery time of around eight weeks.

At what price will the restyled Peugeot 208 be sold?

Currently sold for 18,630 euros at the entry level in its Like version with petrol engine, against 34,800 for the equivalent electric model, the new generation Peugeot 208 will logically cost a little more expensive after restyling. It will probably cost 20,000 euros to afford the basic restyled Peugeot 208 and not far from double for the new version of the e-208.
