Colombia’s government and a delegation from the leftist ELN guerrillas announce that new peace talks will begin on Monday in Caracas.

Previous peace talks between the government and the ELN broke down in the initial stages when former president Iván Duque took power in 2018.

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro, who was elected in August and is the country’s first left-wing leader, has vowed to seek non-military solutions to end violence by armed groups.
