Sony has patented the cross-platform NFT Trade Library for gaming, although we haven’t seen much of the company’s functionality in this area so far.
Although NFTs are not very popular, companies continue to work especially to include them in games. According to Sony’s approved patent application, which has emerged recently, the company is working on cross-platform (PlayStation, PC, Xbox, Nintendo etc.) use.
Sony’s new patent for the use of cross-platform NFT
NFTs are a technology that allows you to move your digital assets such as characters, items or weapons to other applications. Although we cannot say that it has seen a lot of demand, we do not know exactly what the coming days will bring. In addition, we do not have any information about whether the company has done a study for this patent, but companies try to have a say in a trend that may be in the future with such applications at various times.
Recently, Square Enix’s CEO was forced to leave his post due to the failure of games after he insisted on using NFT in games.
You can find the summary of the statement made for the patent permission below:
“As recognized here, in some applications, such as computer/video games, an NFT may represent a drawing or an entity in a game (such as a character or weapon or other game assets), but existing systems are technologically inadequate for its owner. as agreed, the functionality of the game may be enhanced by allowing players and/or viewers to use the asset exclusively and possibly transfer their rights to others via NFT as described in more detail below.
Accordingly, it requires at least one computer environment containing instructions that can be executed by at least one processor. The task is performed within at least one computer simulation, and the first NFT represents a digital asset. Instructions may also be executed in response to the determination to provide the first NFT to the end user’s entity and to prevent other end user entities involved in other instances of at least one computer simulation from providing another NFT to perform the task again.
In some instances, the end-user entity may include multiple end-users acting in concert to perform the task. In other examples, the first end-user entity may contain a single end-user and no other end-users.
In various exemplary embodiments, the task may include locating the digital asset within at least one computer simulation and/or overcoming or overcoming a certain aspect of at least one computer simulation.
Additionally, in exemplary embodiments, the digital asset itself may include a video game skin, video game image, an avatar, a video game weapon, and/or a video game skill.”
