New patch lets you throw out fellow players, brings a better ending

The next patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is almost here. There are a lot of improvements and that’s exactly what a lot of players want.

Even though Baldur’s Gate has received 3 top ratings and is a clear contender for game of the year, there are still a lot of bugs. Several hotfixes couldn’t fix it and even the first big patch only fixed a few painful problems.

Although the first major patch was released a few days ago, the second seems to be almost there as well, bringing a lot of new features and improvements that should make Baldur’s Gate 3 a smoother, better gaming experience.

We present you the highlights of the next patch.

Highlights of Patch 2 in Baldur’s Gate 3

Kick Multiplayer Characters: A big problem was that multiplayer characters had to stay in your party all the time. For example, if you started a game with a friend and both created their own characters, then both characters were permanently in the group. Even if your friend doesn’t play with you anymore – you always had to have his character with you.

This will be fixed in the next patch, because then you can simply “lock” unwanted multiplayer characters in Lazarus in a closet so that you can take the right companions with you again. The character only comes out of the closet when you are back in multiplayer.

More Minthara: The “evil” companion Minthara has some bugs, so some of her dialogues don’t trigger and romance with her is impossible. After the first patch didn’t fix this, that should now happen in patch 2 – the fans had already called for “Justice for Minthara”.

The romance with Minthara is going nowhere at the moment – that should be patched quickly.

Better ending for Karlach: Karlach is a special case as a companion, because the players are not happy with her ending. This is mainly due to the fact that you have not been able to achieve a “good” ending for them so far. The upcoming patch should fix that and give it a slightly different ending. Whether this is really a “good” ending remains to be seen.

Better performance: The performance of Baldur’s Gate 3 is not so good for many and especially in the third act, i.e. the big city Baldur’s Gate, it stutters for many. The next patch is supposed to significantly improve the performance of the whole game, although the biggest improvements are felt in Act 3 in particular.

Bug fixes for more content: In addition to the usual bug fixes, the developers emphasize that there are a number of errors that ensure that certain events in the game world are not triggered. The non-triggering of these events in turn ensures that certain reactions of the companions do not start and as a result some dialogue and content are incorrect or appear unfinished. Here you want to ensure that everything can really be brought to a conclusion.

The exact patch notes have not yet been published, but these highlights give you a good impression of what the next patch will fix.

When is the patch coming out? There is no release date for the 2nd patch yet. However, the developers say that it is “just around the corner” – not far away. At least that sounds like it will be released this week or next, maybe even in time for the release of the game on the PlayStation 5.
