In a mix of Among Us and Cult of the Lamb, a new party game on Steam lets you summon an ancient horror. There is a free demo for those interested.
Which game are you talking about? Ritual Night is a party game for 4 to 8 players. You either take on the role of a monster or a person disguised as a monster. Depending on the situation, your goal will be to carry out a magical ritual or to sabotage it.
Ritual Night is developed by Outfox Games, a nine-person indie studio. In an official reveal trailer, the developers show what awaits you. But you can also get started yourself; you can find a free demo on Steam.
Among Us with Cthulhu cult
How does Ritual Night play? In terms of basic gameplay, the game is reminiscent of the indie hit Among Us. But you’re not playing astronauts here, but rather followers of a cult – Greetings from Cult of the Lamb. As a cultist monster, you are in a castle and try to summon your master Cthulhu.
Among the monsters there are also people in disguise. They try to sabotage the ritual and take a few magical items. For example, you disguise yourself as an NPC in order to remain inconspicuous while exploring the castle.
This creates a game of cat and mouse in which the monsters want to get rid of the people, while the people prefer not to get caught in the first place. Randomly distributed skills let you try out new strategies every time to achieve your goal.
If you are one of those people who are always the first to be thrown out of the game in Among Us, Ritual Night could still be worth it for you. Because just because you’ve been exposed (or falsely suspected) doesn’t mean the game is over for you. In Ritual Night you always get a second chance.
When does the game come out? Ritual Night will be released on November 4, 2024 on Steam, Mac, iOS and Android. On mobile the game is Free2Play, on all other platforms it costs €4.99. The developers are not ruling out console versions, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
