New part of The Division takes the step into the unloved future of gaming, but at least it will be Free2Play

Actually, “The Division: Resurgence”, the mobile game in the well-known Tom Clancy series from Ubisoft, hasn’t really interested me until now. But as of today, that’s different. Not only is the game amazingly close to the original, but it still sounds like the long-awaited The Division 3 that gamers have always wanted.

So Ubisoft lures with new content: In the summer of 2022, The Division Resurgence was announced as the mobile game in the Division series. At this point, the game seemed to be just a stripped down version of Division adapted for mobile devices.

For most die-hard agents of the division, like our shooter author Maik Schneider, not really exciting at first.

Since yesterday’s Ubisoft Forward, however, it has become clear: “The Division: Resurgence” is apparently not just a slimmed-down mobile version of the third-person cover shooter, but a promising expansion of the popular The Division in New York City, which is now also die-hard fans could convince.

  • The Division: Resurgence will offer a brand new MMO adventure and a campaign independent of Tom Clancy’s The Division 1 and The Division 2.
  • The game will also feature new angles on key story elements.
  • In addition, players can expect new game modes, both for PvP and PvE, new specializations and even new enemy factions.
  • As in the original, the whole thing is rounded off by a fairly detailed game world, solid animations, day and night changes and dynamic weather effects.
  • Get your first glimpse of the familiar environment of the new Mobile Agents in the latest pre-rendered CGI trailer for The Division: Resurgence, which launched its beta today:

What’s new in The Division: Resurgence: Basically, of course, “The Division: Resurgence” also offers the well-known Division experience – just on mobile phones.

Not much changes in the unique basic story itself:

  • In this The Division experience, specially designed for mobile, you once again embody an agent of the “Strategic Homeland Division” tasked with restoring order, fighting enemy factions, protecting civilians and helping them build a better future.
  • In addition, it offers the well-known 3rd person shooter feeling from Division 1 and 2, an RPG character development, the MMO approach, the cover mechanics, looting and leveling as well as a large open world in New York City.

  • You eliminate enemies in a variety of new missions and activities, earning experience points to rank up.
  • Well-known Division gameplay with new enemy factions & specializations on Unreal Engine 4

Ubisoft promises a “brand new MMO adventure”

Even though there will be a lot that will be new in The Division: Resurgence, it is not necessary to know the events of parts 1 and 2 in order to be able to play the game. However, experienced Division agents should be able to make connections and gain new perspectives on old Division story elements.

Another change will be the shared and open MMO world.

You will no longer have an instanced game world, as is currently the case with the Division games, but an “open social space”.

  • That means you’ll encounter a lot more other gamers in-game in The Division: Resurgence.
  • Whether you want to play alone or in co-op mode is still up to you.
  • In addition to the PvEvP-classified dark zone, there is also the sole PvP mode “Conflict: Supremacy”.

  • In this mode only player duels take place and you now have to compete against each other mobile in two teams of four to hold control points.
  • Play in a team or alone – the open social place gives you the choice

Ubisoft has also changed something technically: With Resurgence you can challenge your smartphone graphically, because the title does not rely on the previously used Snowdrop engine, but on Unreal Engine 4.

Unfortunately, nothing more is known about the new enemy factions or the new specializations, such as the field medic. But with this information alone, “The Division: Resurgence” already sounds like the Division that Ubisoft should have released as a successor years ago.

Beta starts today – but not in Germany
