A small option in Baldur’s Gate 3 makes multiplayer much better – but you have to activate it first. MeinMMO shows you how it works.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s multiplayer is great. Roaming through the game’s files with friends is a lot of fun. But there are a few small details that can spoil the fun of the game. One of the most annoying details that you’ve probably experienced is the fact that cutscenes sometimes don’t start at the same time for all players.
Why is this a problem? If character 1 starts a dialogue and your fellow players do something else or are momentarily inattentive, then they may miss parts of the dialogue.
The result: You always have to briefly ask “Pscht, dialogue!” or “Cutscene – are you there?” in the voice so that everyone really follows the current conversation. Alternatively, you have to say every time: “I’m going to speak to the conversation is almost over.
This can be really annoying if it even has drastic effects on the game. In the first act, a player may talk to the druids who warn not to enter the grove. If another player doesn’t listen to the dialogue and instead takes a step into the grove, chaos immediately breaks out and the druids see this as a violation of their boundaries and attack – even though the “offender” never received the warning. because he never saw the dialogue.
What’s new now? Since Patch 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, this problem is a thing of the past. With a new setting you can ensure that in multiplayer all players are immediately drawn into the dialogue and no cutscene is missed.
Where do you find the setting? The option is a little hidden. Open the options menu, then the “Game details” tab and scroll all the way down. There you will find the options called “Eavesdrop”. Check the box here.
If you have done everything correctly, you will always be automatically drawn into dialogues started by your fellow players.
Note that there are a few exceptions. Because certain “private moments” can be blocked from viewing by all players. These are mostly parts of the romances. If all players have activated the “Share private moments” option, they will also watch automatically.
From our own experience we can already say that the “eavesdrop” option has significantly improved the multiplayer mode. Not having to ask every time whether everyone is actually talking or sometimes telling other players to be quiet when they “chatter into dialogue” makes the experience much more rounded.
How do you like this new option?
The new patch also broke something – namely an important quest for Karlach.
