A new free open-world RPG is launching this year. Fans of anime, Genshin Impact and complex characters could get their money’s worth with this title.

What game is this about? Wuthering Waves is a new free2-play open-world action RPG from Kuro Games that has been in development for a long time and recently passed a beta phase.

The first trailers and impressions reminded the game of titles like Genshin Impact, and not just because of its graphic style based on anime. The gameplay, the gacha system and the choice between a female and male protagonist were also reminiscent of the Hoyoverse games at first glance.

When starts it? Wuthering Waves has now announced an official release date. The free role-playing game will be launched on May 22, 2024. It will be playable on PC and mobile devices. You can already register on the official website (via wutheringwaves.kurogames.com)

According to the developer, console versions are planned, but they shouldn’t be expected too soon.

What awaits you in Wuthering Waves? The story takes place in a distant future in which the number of humanity has visibly shrunk due to a catastrophe. The world is now rebuilding as some people survived the horrific flood of monsters.

Nevertheless, there are still many dangers. In this world you take on the role of a male or female “rover” who wakes up from his long sleep in a strange world. In Wuthering Waves you explore both the new world and the past of your protagonist.

Become your enemies in battle

In addition to an interesting story and complex characters, the game also promises you some interesting features:

  • All characters use different weapons and attack maneuvers. You combine these to create spectacular combos and devastating special attacks.
  • You receive echoes from defeated enemies, which give you new abilities and improve your attributes. In battle, you can even take on the form of defeated opponents.

    • You get characters via a gacha system, similar to Genshin Impact or Honkai Star Rail. You can find the right character for every player here. The right character will be found for both ranged and melee fighters.

    Each character comes with complex traits and unique backstories that you will experience throughout the game.

    The open world of Wuthering Waves is graphically very beautifully designed and you can explore it completely freely. To make this a little easier for you, climbing hooks and hang gliders are available.
